This poster is currently unbacked. At check out, you will be given the opportunity to add backing which would cost $65 and take approximately 6-8 weeks.

Linen backing is the industry standard of conservation. Canvas is stretchered and a sheet of acid free barrier paper is laid down. The poster is then pasted to the acid free paper using an acid free paste. This process is fully reversible and gives support to the poster. A border of linen is left around the poster and can be used by a framer to mount the poster so that nothing touches the poster itself. Backing is what we recommend for framing, and for any poster needing restoration.

From the Eugene Oregon Registwer Jan 4, 1946 : "Pacific Olympics to be Staged by Army - "Across 5,000 miles of Pacific ocean, a small army of athletics is staging one of the greatest athletic contests in sports history - the Pacific Army Olympics. From Hawaii's sunny beaches to the snowclad fields of Tokyo soldier athletes are competing for places in the Olympics finals, which will be held in the latter part of January in Honolulu, Saipan, Guam, Manila and Tokyo. It is the biggest sports project of its kind ever attempted. Almost 5,000 officers and enlisted men stationed in the Pacific area are competing for places in the finals, expected to be viewed by more than a quarter of million men... Championships will be decided in 15 sports ranging from table tennis to football and baseball."
