Linen backing is the industry standard of conservation. Canvas is stretchered and a sheet of acid free barrier paper is laid down. The poster is then pasted to the acid free paper using an acid free paste. This process is fully reversible and gives support to the poster. A border of linen is left around the poster and can be used by a framer to mount the poster so that nothing touches the poster itself. Backing is what we recommend for framing, and for any poster needing restoration.

A iconic Sendak monster, similar to "Where the Wild Things Are," calmly sits on a crowded New York street holding multiple books in its arms, wearing a crown shaped like the Chrysler Building and biting on a banner advertising the 10th anniversary of this NY landmark book fair.
"New York is Book Country" was a legendary literary street fair and festival that took over Fifth Avenue in Manhattan every autumn, running annually from 1979 until 2010. Famous for celebrating the joy of reading, the fair featured over 175 publisher and bookseller booths and commissioned iconic promotional posters from legendary artists like Maurice Sendak and Keith Haring.
