This poster is currently unbacked. At check out, you will be given the opportunity to add backing which would cost $195 and take approximately 6-8 weeks.
Linen backing is the industry standard of conservation. Canvas is stretchered and a sheet of acid free barrier paper is laid down. The poster is then pasted to the acid free paper using an acid free paste. This process is fully reversible and gives support to the poster. A border of linen is left around the poster and can be used by a framer to mount the poster so that nothing touches the poster itself. Backing is what we recommend for framing, and for any poster needing restoration.
The Caretaker (released in the U.S. in 1964 as "Harold Pinter's The Guest"), the 1963 Clive Donner English family relationship brothers melodrama ("Based on the play 'The Caretaker'" by Harold Pinter; about two very different brothers, and one hires a cranky old man to be his caretaker, and that causes their relationship to become even worse).
Starring Alan Bates, Donald Pleasence, Robert Shaw and Harold Pinter (in an uncredited role)
The film was made by a partnership of six people, none of whom took payment: Clive Donner, Donald Pleasence, Alan Bates, Robert Shaw, Harold Pinter and Michael Birkett. No distributor expressed interest in funding the film, which meant it was unable to attract investment from the National Film Finance Corporation. The budget was eventually raised with the support of a consortium, credited in the film as Peter Bridge, Peter Cadbury, Charles Kasher, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Harry Saltzman, Peter Hall, Leslie Caron, Noël Coward and Peter Sellers, each member giving ã1,000.
