Perched high on the west bank of the Hudson River north of New York City, West Point served as the site of forts guarding the Hudson during the Revolutionary War. It has also served as the seat of the United States military academy since 1802. For the New York Central System’s Empire State Express, Ragan depicts one of New York Central’s trains zooming past a dramatically lit background.
