This poster is currently unbacked. At check out, you will be given the opportunity to add backing which would cost $145 and take approximately 6-8 weeks.
Linen backing is the industry standard of conservation. Canvas is stretchered and a sheet of acid free barrier paper is laid down. The poster is then pasted to the acid free paper using an acid free paste. This process is fully reversible and gives support to the poster. A border of linen is left around the poster and can be used by a framer to mount the poster so that nothing touches the poster itself. Backing is what we recommend for framing, and for any poster needing restoration.
Geo Thermal The Heat Beneath Your Feet
Geothermal Energy The heat densely beneath your feet is the most vastly renewable energy source over most parts of the earth’s surface. The primary exception is slowly replenishable hydrothermal reservoirs; excluding these, this heat can be used to expand brick & mud by the hundred times in radiant surface areas to heat hot water for use in industry, domestic water supplies and district space heating. For high temperatures (>150°C), water heated to producing steam is led to turbines which in turn runs generators producing electricity. Since heating and cooling represents seventy percent of individual energy consumption and since heating water consumes about sixteen percent, such systems can be integrated for maximum convenience and economy. Along with geothermal energy coupling with district energy networks can lead to low-cost renewable district space heating, according to the Worldwatch Institute: in lower temperature regions where it is not possible to tap sufficient steam energy, integration of geothermal reservoirs with modern water-to-water heat pumps offers extreme reliability, long life and extraordinary efficiency. Compared with conventional heating systems, such a combination can cut annual operating cost for buildings by thirty percent to sixty percent, the utility grid reduction being seventy percent to eighty percent or more. Geothermal district heating systems are already at work providing energy in communities of Virginia, Idaho, Texas and Oregon in the U.S.A., revealing dramatic potential over wide portions of North America. As well as revealing a diverse density of uses in reasonably distributed parts of the globe, including parts of Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, western Europe, and Japan.
